◢Continue to Tokyo busy trip...Leaving Akihabara, I returned to Ueno. On the left side of the photo below it is Ameya-Yokochō, while Ueno Park is on the right. Amongst the Japan's first public parks, it was named "Ueno Onshi Kōen" being presented to Tokyo by Emperor Taishō, attracting over ten million visitors a year for its cherry blossom and hanami.

◢It was right at the moment of Japan Golden Week and you could see a sea of faces in the park. Apart from Ueno Zoo, there were also workshops, story-telling zone and book selling area for kids. I love Ueno Park so much for its spacious and pleasant environment. Looking forward to visiting again during cherry blossom!
◢After a hour or so in Ueno Park, I went to Ameya-Yokochō nearby. Ameya-Yokochō was named after "Ame" (America) since it used to be stores selling surplus American army goods just after World War II. The 2 streets was so rammed that I could not even move and explore every stall. I soon followed the crowd after buying a pack of Ryukakusan which has kept my throat in perfect condition over the 2 weeks.

◢My next stop was Hamarikyu Gardens which would take a 15-minute walk from Shimbashi and Tsukiji (7m from Shiodome JR). Despite the long distance, there are many sightseeing spots along the way (SIO-SITE), e.g. Nittele Tower, Nittele bid clock” by anime director Hayao Miyazaki, Hibiya Shrine, Shiodome shopping center, etc.. There are also Tokyo Cruise Ships from Asakusa to Hamarikyu Gardens every 30 minutes on average.

Hamarikyu Gardens was opened in 1946 and was remodeled as a public garden park on the site of a villa of the Shogun Tokugawa family in the 17th century. With only half the total area of Ueno Park, there was exceptional peaceful and tranquil. It was sad but funny to see a graveyard for ducks as there were duck hunting sites within the Gardens. Apart from the stunning pond at the center, there are also spacious gardens (seasonal flowers, not much in May) and the 300-year-old pine tree.

◢Being my first time to Tokyo, Tokyo Station definitely worth a visit. The most common places for its panorama view are KITTE, Marunouchi Building and Shin-Marunouchi Building. Before dusk, I went up to KITTE Garden on the 6th floor of KITTE. There were considerable amount of people in the garden, with the aim of finding the best angles for railway and side view of the station. It's great for zone out too! Besides KITTE, you could find an underground food zone in the building called Tokia which looks empty at first sight.

◢Table turnover rate was reasonable for Okonomiyaki Kiji. I waited for about half an hour before being offered a seat with the queue below. I must have looked super confusing as I was soon given an English menu for drink after sitting down. I have ordered an unknown okonomiyaki (more or less the same favour to me) which tasted very nice, a bowl of pork lean with similar taste as those in Chinese soup and KIJI whisky which was perfect match with yakimono.

◢It's a must to enjoy the marvelous night scene of Tokyo Station. On Marunouchi Building 5/f, you could find KITTE on your right hand side and the Station right in front of you! You could also have a broader view from the observatory on 35/f.

◢It was 20:30 already when I arrived at Tokyo-Solamachi. The most attractive places were Pokemon store and 63d.c. tomo-milk ice-cream. Finishing speedy Tokyo journey, the next stop were Akita and Hirosaki!

I am Sing, a recent graduate in Hong Kong. I love travelling a lot and would like to share with you information which you can hardly find/consolidate on web. These years I travelled to Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Thailand, mostly by myself. I planned every trip and found it an enjoyable experience to get involved throughout the travel. I hope you will find my blog a good reference to your trip! In Chinese, "Sing" means "Star", so star is one of the decorations in this blog. Kindly note that English version is a only brief summary from the Chinese version. It depends on the traffic and comments to launch the full English version and provide HK tourism information.
