Coming back from Koga, the journey began in the afternoon. Talking about Fukuoka transportation, it is always the best to look for its various one day passes first. With the desire of tasting Unagi no Seiro Mushi (eel rice) at Ganso Motoyoshiya, I chose the Fukuoka 1Day Pass. There are also other ways to Dazaifu/Yanagawa, such as Fukuoka Tourist City Pass (excluding Yanagawa), direct bus to Dazaifu, JR to Futsukaichi, etc.. I may provide more information in later blogs.

Before getting on the Dazaifu Train, you need to exchange at Futsukaichi station (not the JR one which is quite a distance). As Dazaifu serves the god of learning Sugawara no Michizane, there are not as many people as in other places during normal days. Going by Nishitetsu train takes around 30 minutes, and shorter if you have checked the train schedule.

One of the biggest reasons to go to Dazaifu was Danbo Ramen. The restaurant was such a tiny place with only 10+ seats along the table. You need to order food by purchasing ticket from the machine near the exit. I particularly appreciated the attitude of the staff who serve everyone with smile and politeness even when she was extremely busy. The ramen was delicious too, one of my favourites in the entire Japan trip.

There is a long street with pleasant food before entering Dazaifu area. I remembered how the lovely staff served me in the Stackbucks Coffee.

Dazaifu area is spacious. Although you can walk randomly, I suggest planning a bit if time is a concern.

There are also other interesting places in Dazaifu area as shown below

Before I went for Yanagawa, I arrived at Kōmyōzen-ji Temple to enjoy its relaxing scene (with mosquito haha).

About Me

Welcome! I am Sing, a recent graduate in Hong Kong. I love travelling a lot and would like to share with you information which you can hardly find/consolidate on web. These years I travelled to Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Thailand, mostly by myself. I planned every trip and found it an enjoyable experience to get involved throughout the travel. I hope you will find my blog a good reference to your trip! In Chinese, "Sing" means "Star", so star is one of the decorations in this blog. Kindly note that English version is a only brief summary from the Chinese version. It depends on the traffic and comments to launch the full English version and provide HK tourism information.
